1982 Mercedes-Benz 500SL
The 500SL was introduced in 1980 during an extensive overhaul of the SL. The new top of the range engine was also fitted with a light alloy boot lid and a plastic rear spoiler. Other changes during the facelift were a new 4-speed automatic, upgraded suspension & an extensive upgrade to the interior.
This particular car was sold new in 1982 in Belgium and was directly imported to California through the grey market. The car stayed its entire life in California, which explains why this car has zero rust. With only 102k km this car is in excellent condition.
The car is repainted in its original color Classic White which makes a great contrast with the Galinit Grey underside. The original factory Bundt wheels with Michelin tires are in good condition without damage. The soft top has been replaced some years ago and is still in great condition without rips or tears. The original hardtop is also available with the car.
The interior is in great condition too. This car has the very rare and desirable optional rear seats (565), which turns this car into a special 2+2! The leather is in good condition without any rips or tears. The dash is also in good condition. All gauges work as it should. The Blaupunkt radio & AC works without issues.
Mechanically a lot has been done to this car. The front subframe & wishbone rubbers are replaced and the car got new oil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, injectors, fuel pump, a tune up, new coolant lines for the oil cooler of the transmission and a new air filter. The timing chain was redone by the previous owner.
Overall this is a very desirable 500SL with the rare optional 4 seats which is ready to be enjoyed!
